Each Honda Element is fitted with a cabin filter that retains the air in the passenger compartment freed from dust, pollen and other allergens. Honda recommends changing the filter at 10,000-mile intervals or every 12-month period. The filter should be checked more regularly if the Element is usually uncovered to dusty circumstances or other excessive situations that might clog the filter. A dirty cabin filter restricts air circulation by means of the ventilation system. The Element makes use of a two-piece cabin filter and each pieces must be replaced together.

Honda Element Cabin Air Filter Replacement Instructions

1. Open the glove compartment. Empty the contents.
2. Unhook the hinge tabs on either side of the glove compartment to permit it to pivot down.

4. Grasp the tab on the left aspect of the filter access door. Pull the tab toward the suitable to remove the door.
5. Pull the primary air filter frame straight out of the compartment to remove it. Slide the second filter into the opening and remove it.

7. Slide the primary filter frame into the filter compartment. Slide the body over to make room for the second. Insert the second filter.
8. Exchange the filter entry door, pressing on the sides till it locks into place.
9. Transfer the glove compartment up and hook the hinge tabs onto the sides.
